Or that you’d like to keep up to date with wine news, essays and tastings that JF Wine Limited (“company”; “we”; “us“; “our”) is putting on. Welcome! To communicate all these exciting things to you, we need to collect some information from you.

We take your privacy very seriously and is committed to protecting personal information that you’ve shared when visiting this site, communicating electronically with us or attending one of our events. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

Types of data collected and how the data are used

Personal data are collected when you sign up to the mailing list or purchase a product. No information about you is received from third parties. Information collected includes name, email address and postal address. These data are used to send electronic newsletters and any products purchased.

Mailing List

We send out occasional newsletters, which contain information about essays written on this site, news in the wine tasting world, updates to and notifications of product lines, and events we are putting on. To do this, we collect your name and email address. Mailchimp is used to store email contact lists and to send e-newsletters. Their privacy policy is here. JF Wine Ltd does not sell or pass on personal data to anyone else, unless required to by law. You can always unsubscribe from our mailing list by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or by contacting us on wine [at] jamesflewellen [dot] com.

Cookies

As is common practice with almost all professional websites this site uses cookies and other similar technologies. These are tiny files that are downloaded to your computer to improve your online experience. These technologies record information about your use of our site, including:

  • Browser and device data, such as IP address, device type, operating system and Internet browser type, screen resolution, operating system name and version, device manufacturer and model, language, plug-ins and add-ons;

  • Usage data, such as time spent on the site, pages visited, links clicked and the pages that led or referred you to our site.

For these to work, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will set cookies through our site which may be used to enhance your profile on their site or contribute to the data they hold for various purposes outlined in their respective privacy policies.

We also collect information about your online activities on websites and connected devices over time and across third-party websites, devices, apps and other online features and services. We use Google Analytics on our site to help us analyse your use of our site and diagnose technical issues.

Purchases

Squarespace provides the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell products and services to you. Your data are stored through Squarespace's data storage, databases and the general Squarespace application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.

If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Stripe stores your credit card data. Data are encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data are stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted. All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.
